IMG_7246What are you planning on doing this summer? Are you planning an epic family get away to Disney World? Or is it gonna be just you and that special someone having some alone time at the beach? I wanted to share some of our favorite quick getaways.

Are you California dreaming? There is so much to do there. If you are headed to LA, then Disneyland and Universal Studios are both great. They are pretty much an all day event for each one, and don’t forget to bring your credit cards.  They are both pretty pricey. If you are looking for the theme park on a budget then you should check out Knott’s Berry Farm . The fried chicken dinner at Mrs. Knott’s Restaurant is a must have. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is fun to check out.  Beware of the costume characters though. They want to take pictures with you for tips. From what I could tell most of them are homeless. The Hollywood Bowl is a great place to take in a show. Be warned – take the park and ride. It is very hard to get in and out of but it is an amazing venue. If you are looking for something cheap and educational to do, the Griffith Observatory is amazing. It has lots of educational things as well as great deco architecture. One of my personal favorites is Medieval Times . They have a great show and its fun for the whole family!IMG_0362

Looking for something more intimate for just you and your special someone? I say San Diego. My wife and I love to stay at the Omni Hotel in the Gas Lamp District.  There is lots going on in the area with great nightlife, as well as easy access to the beach and to the San Diego Padres ballpark.  I must say if you have a chance try the burger joint Nicky Rotten’s.  It was one of the best burgers I have had in my life! If you want a more interactive dinner, you should try the Gaslamp Strip Club. (It’s not what it sounds like.) This eatery has a do-it-yourself theme. You order your cut of meat and sides, and then you go up to the grill station and cook it yourself. It is said that in the 1800’s it used to be a brothel. So if you need to get some breakfast after your night out drinking hit up  The Broken Yolk Cafe. I highly recommend the Betty’s Southern Biscuts and Gravy or the Sweet Potato Pancakes.

So what are your summer vacation plans? I would love to hear from you!!
